"summary_nl": "We currently live in the era of precision cosmology in which models of our universe need to comply with an increasing amount of experimental data. Most notably, observations suggest that about 70% of the mass of our universe must be due to a force field, called dark energy, which is making the universe expand faster. This dark energy is deeply mysterious: How did it cause the universe to expand so rapidly to reach its current size? Why do we observe its current abundance and how does it change in time? Theoretical physicists severely struggle with these fundamental questions about the nature of our universe, since they seem to require a replacement of some of our long successful paradigms. I argue that breakthroughs are missing because input is lacking from an underlying more fundamental theory of quantum gravity. In this interdisciplinary proposal I employ ideas from String Theory, a candidate theory of quantum gravity, and state-of-the-art mathematics to develop new methods on how observable imprints of the underlying fundamental theory can be determined. With these insights, I will establish that the cosmological dynamics of our universe is emergent from more fundamental degrees of freedom of quantum gravity. Our findings can reshape the understanding of dark energy and allow us to propose new innovative answers to some of the most pressing questions about the beginning of our universe. This includes constraints on expected gravitational wave signals from the early universe. With my recent impactful contributions on quantum gravity conjectures and emergence I am ideally prepared for the proposed research. To eventually apply the constraints arising from quantum gravity to cosmology is the goal of many groups. However, I suggest a new perspective and a powerful mathematical toolbox to achieve new breakthroughs.",
