"summary_nl": "Quantum chemical calculations are used to rationalise and predict the structures and properties of molecules and materials. In our group we focus on two aspects of quantum chemistry, viz. 1) the development of new methods that improve the description of materials, and 2) the application of theory in challenging areas in order to understand the physics. In general, we are interested in materials containing transition and rare earth elements, because of the rich chemistry and physics they display, and the theoretical challenges that they pose. Secondly, we perform theoretical and computational studies of molecules, fluids and solids for the design of materials to be used in organic photovoltaic systems. Finally we study organic charge transfer salts that have potential applications in optic communication devices and fast (THz) switching devices. The ongoing research can be divided in different projects, each with different supercomputer requirements. ",
