"summary_nl": "Electrons in silicon and holes in germanium are leading platforms for quantum computation with quantum dots. Both platforms have reached a maturity where single spins can be coherently controlled and coupled together. Here, we will unite these platforms by developing multi-layer silicon-germanium heterostructures and integrate silicon and germanium quantum dots on a single chip. This will enable to explore the intricate interaction between closely spaced electrons and holes, predicted to lead to novel emergent phenomena, and allowing the construction of higher dimensional quantum circuits with increased quantum connectivity and functionality. In macroscopic Hall bar structures, we will optimize the electron-hole interaction to establish exciton condensation and superfluidity. In quantum dots, we will confine single electrons and holes and perform quantum simulations based on coupled two-dimensional quantum dot grids. These systems are predicted to exhibit a rich phase-diagram including Mott insulating states, charge-density waves and, ultimately, tunable artificial superconductivity. Unravelling these states of matter will be a key step forward in quantum simulation and a stride to a quantum advantage with quantum dots.",
