"summary_en": "Using regular computers for predicting and reducing the influence of noise in quantum computers\n\n\n\nNoise in quantum computers is the main hurdle for them to outperform their regular (classical) counterparts. The researchers first propose to develop a novel method for simulating noisy quantum computers on classical computers. Next, they will use the new method for better predicting and reducing the influence of noise on the performance of near-term quantum computers.",

"update_en": "The proposed simulation method (on a regular computer) suffers from numerical rounding errors in practice (a known issue). Using mathematical proof, the researchers have first assumed that decimal numbers do not take up computer memory space (so that rounding errors do not occur) and confirmed that the proposed simulation method in principle can outperform existing approaches. This assumption does not hold for real computers, and fortunately the researchers have next also found a way to store these numbers using limited memory only.",
