      "summary_nl": "The correspondence between gauge theories and relativistic strings offers an entirely new way to explore fundamental interactions of matter. The aim of this proposal is to unravel the precise mechanism of this gauge-string correspondence and use it in the study of realistic models of elementary particles. The current lack of non-perturbative quantisation schemes for gauge and string theories makes this a challenging endeavour.\n\nIn this context, novel theoretical techniques will be developed to fully determine the spectrum of a quantum string moving in an anti-de Sitter space-time, and thereby the spectrum of the corresponding gauge theory. These techniques will also be applied for studying string dynamics in less symmetric space-times, in order to obtain a stringy description of non-perturbative phenomena in a generic gauge theory exhibiting a confining phase.\n\nOur expertise in gauge theory, string theory and integrable models puts us in a unique position to carry out this VICI proposal within the given time frame.\n",
