"summary_nl": "The remarkable progress in the studies of Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) in ultra-cold gases has generated unique opportunities for scientific advance and for new applications. The non-trivial character of phase coherence and dynamics in macroscopic quantum states, and their possible use for \"atom lasers\" -devices for laser-like generation of coherent matter waves, atomic clocks, interferometry , quantum computing make the field attractive for specialists in various areas of physics. The proposed project is dedicated to develop new methods of manipulation and control of trapped condensates and to study novel Bose-condensed states, such as phase-fluctuating and dipolar condensates. The ultimate goal concerns the creation of BEC states with tunable dynamical and phase coherence properties and the use of these states for atom lasers. Our approach relies on tuning of the spatial dimensionality and on inducing long-range interatomic forces, which can be implemented by magnetostatic and optical means. Special attention will be focused on the all-optical creation of BEC states and atom lasers. The driving force behind this proposal is that experimental and theoretical work is performed in a close and already productive collaboration.",
